Our Story
Akku Kumar has always been passionate about aviation—from creating controls for helicopters at Bell Textron to earning his pilot’s license. He has built model planes and automated drones, yet it’s commercial air travel that's always excited him the most. Having taken more than 300 flights, he’s experienced firsthand the many challenges faced by airlines and passengers alike. After hearing countless gate agents vent, “Oversized bags waste so much time at boarding!”, Akku founded Arrow Analytics in 2024. His mission: to replace the outdated metal baggage sizer with the world’s first automated carry-on sizer. Designed to integrate seamlessly into the boarding process, Arrow provides airlines with something they’ve never had before—real-time baggage size data, without slowing down passengers in line.

Within the year, despite the governmental red tape that stops many other startups from pursuing air transportation, Arrow earned an MVP with Gerald R. Ford International Airport and Southwest Airlines. Now, they are working on a production contract with the airport, adding several features such as flagging excess baggage and alerting when the number of carry-ons exceeds overhead capacity ahead of the live deployment in Spring 2026—all while still students or recent graduates!

The potential for what Arrow is doing is clear: with a daily average of six flights per gate and each minute of inefficiency costing ~$100, even one minute saved per boarding could translate to $200,000 in annual savings per gate. At Ford Airport alone, that’s $4.6M across 23 gates—imagine if this were at every airport in the world! This is capital that airlines can reinvest into the new era of aviation technology, such as the future of process automation that Arrow is destined to lead.
